Support to Poor Prisoners

Support to Poor Prisoners Scheme is a scheme launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to provide help to poor prisoners who are unable to pay the fine or obtain bail due to financial reasons.

Objective of the Scheme:

• Providing relief to poor prisoners: Providing financial support to prisoners who are having trouble paying the fine or obtaining bail due to financial difficulties.
• Help with release: To help in getting the poor prisoners released who have completed their sentence.

Features of the plan:

• Financial Aid: The Home Ministry has allocated Rs 20 crore annually for this scheme in the states and union territories.
